Is there a down side to trolling these heavy jig heads? They seem to stay at the right depth easier but is there a down side?

Hey DTG. I think there is a down size to the 1/4 oz jigs for trolling. Crappie that are agressive will hit the big jig but if they are not agressive fewer will go after the big bait. I have seen when the crappiei will hit the 1/4 they normally hammer it.

We just use them with a split shot to keep the jig down. Do you think we are missing fish, they are basically the same size as the 3/32 jigs but just heavier?

I like to use a 3/8 or 1/2 ounce weight 14 to 14 inches above the smaller 1/8 ounce jig to keep them down.
