Fished Bay Springs with my neighbor on 8/31. Caught alot of crappiei around the 10 inch mark. Put back a ton of small crappie under 9.5inches. We caught crappie from one end of the lake to the other. We caught fish in the flats around Jackson camp church in 17 to 20 feet of water. We caught fish on main lake points in 19 to 28 feet of water. Caught fish on old creek runs in riddle in 16 to 19 feet of water. Caught fish on deep brush piles in five finger hollow in 22 to 28 feet of water. Caught fish on brush in Piney Grove hollow in 22 to 29 feet of water. Caught fish along the west bank and east bank toward the dam end of the lake in 19 to 30 feet of water. To sum it up the fish are scattered everywhere. Didn't catch over one or two keepers at any one place. We ended up with 29 fish in my self imposed 10 inch or better size range. I didn't count the release fish but I would guess we put back 50+ fish. Regardless they are still fun to catch. We really had to super finesse these fish. I ran one 1/16 ounce jig on 4lb line early and later switched to one 1/32 ounce jig later on. Takes a bit to get a small jig down deep but the fish are super finicky and that is what it took to catch them on this trip.
