Fished bay springs this morning with my father. We tried deeper brush because we got a report of a good catch in deeper water earlier this week. We only caught 3 keeper fish in deeper water. Went back to shallow water and set up a spider rig and slow trolled jigs in shallow water. Fish are real shallow around 7 feet. Caught several dark colored male fish. Fish were usually bunched up when we found them. Caught alot of fish in coves at the right depth several coves we tried had no fish and it was hit or miss. Any kind of wood cover improved catch but caught alot of fish in open water that was the right depth. A mix of black and white crappiei with a few bigger fish. Still putting back alot of small fish.
