Got a chance to fish Bay Springs for a couple of hours this afternoon. The lake level has risen in the last couple of days which pushed alot of brown water into the North end of the lake from out of the waterway channel. I was counting on fishing the North end of the lake which is were the bite usually starts in Bay Springs this time of year. No bites in the brown water. Moved up the lake until the darker colored water faded out. Caught a few fish up in Mcdougal on a blowdown tree in about 18 feet of water. Fished on a point in the same area and caught several nice black crappiei about 20 feet deep. Light was getting low so moved toward the boat ramp around Piney Grove. Water on the south end and middle of the lake is crystal clear and the bite is nonexistent in the clear water. Fish might have been super shallow on the south end and middle of lake but did not try any real shallow water. If the water on the north end of the lake clears up some the bite should pick up. Most fish came on white color. Caught a few on chartruese but white was better.
