Carl Painter's guide service Jan. 1 & 2, 2011
We finally got some rain this week and the lake took a good rise. Where I was dragging mud last week at the ramp, now there is 3' minnimum.
I was quite surprised to find that despite the storms, the lake didn't muddy. The fishing was a bit slow Sunday. We managed 16 keepers, with most being in the 12" to 13" range.
Today I had Ron Tsiada and "Chen" from St. Paul Mn. These fellows laughed when I mentioned how cold it was (18 degrees at launch). They fished all day in street clothes and light jackets. Where I was bundled up like an Eskimo!
It was a beutiful day though, warming up to the low 50's. We boated 20 keeper fish and threw back more than 40 just under fish. I believe the guys were impressed with the quality of fish at Grenada Lake. Water temp was 44, fished 10 to 12' water, slow trolling minnows.
