Columbus lake crappie fishing report

I got out on the Columbus Lake to do a little and poling this Sat. The crappiei seemed to be most concentrated on the main river and out on the ledges 13 to 17 feet deep holding very tight to cover. I tried several colors and the Bobby Garland key lime pie appeared to be their preference. The crappie in the picture was 15.5 inches and weighed 1.72. This was the only one this size I caught. Most of the 18 crappie were 11 to 12 inches and caught just a couple of short fish.

Ray i agree with all you say but want to add that a minnow is hard to beat at this time (i got whupped 13 to 1 last friday) also noted tons of baby shad schooling in the river.
