Columbus Lake Mississippi crappie fishing report

I fished a total of about 5 hours on Sunday in the rain. I caught 35 to 40 keepers all of them 10 to 12 inches long with most really being 11". The fish came from everywhere between 12 foot to 3 foot deep because I kept moving looking for bigger fish. Most of the larger fish came from about 5 foot of water. I fished with several jig colors but the "slimy" seemed to do best with a pearl colored tail. The crappie also liked the jig tipped with a minnow for sure.
I did not catch a single crappie that even approached the 1.25 pound range.

Danny. I am glad the info helped you out. It seems to be a funny time right now. The crappiei are moving back and forth from shallow 5' to 12' in very short time frames. You are right. Preachers make good fishing witnesses..
