Draining Lamar Bruce Lake in Mississippi

I got these pictures yesterday from Charlie. He went by to check the progress at Lamar Bruce a State lake in Saltillo MS. They have got the lake way down and were working on cutting the levee yesterday but had a little mishap. Their Dozer slide off in the lake and went completely under water. Did not get a close picture of the sunk dozer with driver standing on top of it but it did happen.

A flat is just as it sounds. This is an area of shallow water that has no defined drop into deeper water. The water depth is uniform or gets deeper very gradually. Flats can be found at the backs of all the bays, in coves within the bays and on the main lake where the flat land adjacent to the river was covered up by water when the rivers were backed up by damming.
