What is the diffrence in slow trollin a 1/16 oz and a 1/4 oz head? We troll 1/4 oz, to me it seems like the 1/4 will stay in the strike zone longer or am i missing something?

Hey DTG. I slow troll the 1/8 ounce head but I still use the double rig with the 1/2 to 3/4 weight and feel the weight keeps the jig in the strike zone.
I seen Capps and Coleman put just the skirt on a hook tipped with a minnow many times so if you keep the weight I do not think the weight of the jig will matter greatly.
Heck just my thoughts and I am a trolling rookie. Just ask Woods that is what I do. John?

Didn't know if it cut down on movement of the jig that would make a diffrence but we like the 1/4 oz. jigs for sure.

I got some 1/4 I am about to try. So you slow trolling them double rigged just like a double minnow rig?

No. We have 1/4 head and then take a split shot +-1/4 oz and pull it about 16" above it. I am not a great fan of double rigs because we never really caught two at a time anyhow. Finally figured we had to trust our elec.'s.

That is a good idea. I will give it a try. But you are pushing the jigs out the front correct?

DTG, when I'm trolling regardless of the size head or the extra weight I use 1/2 or 3/4 oz. I want to move fast enough to have my lines pull back slightly. As long as your extra weight is heavier than your jig head it should keep her at what ever depth you decide. Woods

Pomoxis is a genus of freshwater fish in the sunfish family (family Centrarchidae) of order Perciformes. The type species is P. annularis, the white crappiei. The common name crappie (pronounced /ˈkræpiː/), refers to either of the Pomoxis species, both of which are extremely popular game fish.
