Kentucky Lake

Fished Kentucky Lake with my Dad, it was a beautiful day. We were able to catch 25 nice keeper fish, with about a 50/50 mix of black and white crappiei. The fish were caught with shad body jigs in 12-20 ft of water. The water was clear and 74 degrees.

We did see one interesting thing today. We saw a 6-7Lb bass trying to eat a 9 inch redear on the surface of the water. We thought something was wrong with the largemouth, but when I tried to net it, the bass took off like a bolt of lightning.

A flat is just as it sounds. This is an area of shallow water that has no defined drop into deeper water. The water depth is uniform or gets deeper very gradually. Flats can be found at the backs of all the bays, in coves within the bays and on the main lake where the flat land adjacent to the river was covered up by water when the rivers were backed up by damming.
