LAST WEEK I TOOK THE PLUNGE AND BOUGHT A MINNKOTA IPILOT. MOUNTING THIS ON MY BOAT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. MY BOAT IS A TA196 TRITON. WITH THE BOW CONFIGURATION AND THE MOUNTING BASE ON THE MOTOR I ONLY HAD 2 SCREWS HOLDING THE BASE ON THE BOAT. THE REST OF THE BASE STICKS OUT OVER THE BOW.I LOOKED AT THE QUICK RELEASE ADAPTOR PLATE MINNKOTA MAKES {AT THEIR REQUEST} BUT THIS WOULD ONLY RAISE THE MOTOR BASE AN INCH AND NOT ADD ANY SUPPORT TO THE BOW. WE WOUND UP TAKING A STAINLESS STEEL PLATE 3/8 BY 6 BY 23 AND MOUNTED THE MOTOR TO THE PLATE AND THE PLATE TO THE BOAT. WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE BE A 2 HOUR JOB TURNED OUT TO TAKE OVER A DAY. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP ANY OTHER TA196 OWNERS, OR MAYBE SOMEBODY CAN TELL ME IF I OVERLOOKED AN EASY FIX. ON THE TA's THE TROLLING MOTOR PRETTY MUCH HAS TO MOUNT IN THE CENTER OF THE BOW. HOPE TO TRY IT OUT AT KENTUCKY LAKE ON MONDAY. MARK
