Radio tagging crappie with John Woods, crappie fisherman extraordinaire

Thanks to Mr. John Woods we successfully radio tagged 25 white crappiei on Sardis Lake last Friday. Mr. Woods is a crappie fishingi machine and we were able to capture all the fish we needed.

We have placed internal radio tags in the fish and there is also a bright orange external tag so that it is obvious to the fisherman that the fish is tagged. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag please call the number and report the tag. We will pick the tag up wherever you are (hopefully not in Canada however).

We will be tracking these fish around the lake for the next 6 to 8 months, through the spawning season and into the summer. Alternatively, if you happen to catch a tagged fish and are so inclined, please write the tag number down, release it alive and give us a call (662 915 7479, 662 234 3901). If the fish is released alive we can continue to track its movements.

Without the assistance of Mr. Woods we would probably still be out there trying to catch fish. He is absolutely a crappie fishingi machine and is also a genuinely nice person. We had a great time and caught fish to boot. If anyone is interested in hiring a fishing guide then I strongly recommend getting in touch with John Woods. Just go to and get his contact information.
