RAY. CONGRAULATIONS ON YOUR NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY,CAN'T GET A BETTER GIFT THAN THAT. CURRENTLY I HAVE A MOTORGUIDE TROLLING MOTOR TOUR SERIES 84LB ON MY BOAT IT CAME WITH IT WHEN I BOUGHT THE BOAT. I AM NOT SATISFIED AT ALL WITH IT. IN THE PAST I ALWAYS HAD MINNKOTAS AND THATS WHAT I WANT TO GO TO NOW. I WANT TO STAY 24 VOLT AND 80-84 LB. I LIKE THE AUTO PILOT OPTION. BUT, CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY ADVISE ON THE AUTO PILOT UPGRADE, I-PILOT OPTION? AND REMOTE COPILOT.. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND ALL THAT MONEY AND NOT GET A $200. OPTION THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERANCE OR SPEND $200 OR $300 I DID NOT NEED TO. THIS IS GOING ON A TRITON TA-196 CRAPPIE BOAT.

Hey Mark, this is quite a question. As you know I went with the Minn-Kota Terrova 101 in 36 volt with I-pilot on the boat I have now.

Here is my opinion. I would go with the Terrova model because it will allow you to use the hand remote and the foot pedal at the same time which is not possible on the other models. Why would you ever want to use both at the same time? It will happen trust me I do. The 101 thrust is great on my boat and comes in a 24v as well. Since there is little money difference in the 80 and the 101 I chose the larger. Top speed on mine is 3.6 MPH and it will pull cranks baits at 1.7 mph all day and I mean 10 hours.

I would also go with the I-pilot for the way you fish. If you troll and long line the I-pilot is great. Even though Auto pilot will let you use the remote and set a direction I -pilot will retrace a route which is great when running ledges. My favorite functions is cruise control which allows you to set speed say .4 mph and forget it and last but not least spot lock. Nothing better than the boat holding itself in position while I put out the poles or pick them up. Or when I catch a fish and want to hold on an area.

I know it is a lot of money but I would buy the Terrorva with I-pilot again if I had it to do over and that says a lot.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. YOUR RIGHT ABOUT IT BEING ALOT OF MONEY BUT IT IS A GOOD CAUSE. SOUNDS LIKE THE 101 LB I-PILOT SHOULD BE MY CHOICE. DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS 101 LB MOTORS IN 24 VOLT. THANKS AGAIN RAY HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON MARK
