David Thornton Guide Service

David Thornton

Welcome fellow fishermen. I'm David Thornton, I live on the beautiful Eagle Lake near Vicksburg, MS. I fish more than 200 days per year. I got into the guide business by accident. Bobby Cleveland with the Clarion Ledger Newspaper in Jackson, MS ask me to take him fishing for a week-end fish story. Well, we went and we tore them up on Eagle Lake.

Bobby said "David you should start guiding, you're much better than most guides that I've employed over the years and you would do good". And so it began. I've fished and hunted practically all my 70+ years and now that I'm retired, I can be on the lake in less than 5 minutes.

My favorite technique is single pole jig fishing Oxbowi Lakes. I can take a jig pole and spend the entire day perch-jerking them big ole oxbow slabs. I'm versatile with my fishing techniques. I can adapt to what-ever style that catches fish. From single pole jig fishing, long-line trolling, slow-trolling, spider-rigging and even pulling/pushing a few crank-baits.

I fish out of a 19.5' Triton fiberglass Crappie Boat that's very comfortable. This boat was designed specifically for the crappiei fisherman.

I have a passion for teaching other fisherman how to catch crappie. I ask you to bring your life jacket, a cooler for your catch, your food and drinks. I supply the equipment, poles, lures, and the bait.

I fish 4 to 6 days a week. If you want a real fishing report call me. I'm honest and I love fishing.
