TN River Guide Service

Captain
Chris "Katfish" Johnson

Here is a little bit of info about my guide service. The name is TN River Guide Service. I was born and raised fishing on Ky Lake.

I have been guiding off and on for over 15 years and doing whatever it took to make ends meet. I have won numerous club and local tournaments and have fished in the BASS Pro Opens.

I also guide on Guntersville, Wheeler, Old Hickory, Percy Priest and Cumberland River. I also guide for Trophy Bass and Crappie on the Kissimee Chain of Lakes and Okeechobee. I will typically guide for seasonal species such as Bass, Crappie, Red Ear, Catfish, and Stripers. My love is really for the Crappie.

Typically my boat is rigged to catch just about anything. I also guide duck hunts in MS typically late Nov thru Late January. I am capable of vertical jigging, spider rigging, bottom bouncing and anything in between. We can fish with a float and minnow if the clients desire to.

I am very dedicated, hardworking, honest and extremely knowledgeable with my clients. Thank god for the GPS it's been my life saver. We are going to have fun no matter and my trips are extremely educational and safe.

I fish out of a 2007 Stratos 201 Pro with a 250 Optimax and it is loaded to the gills with all the bells, whistles, and safety eqiupment you can fit in it. I can accommodate up to three people in my boat and can accommodate larger corporate groups as well.

My 2009 rates start at $200.00 for a 6 hr trip for 2 people and $275.00 for a 9 hr trip for 2 people with a 1 hr lunch break in the middle. There is a $ 50.00 charge for a third person. In the hotter months I often split the 9 hr trips into 4.5 hrs in the morning then break for a few hrs and return that afternoon for another 4.5 hrs.

I am not picky when it comes to booking a trip. I will customize any trip for anybody. If they want to try the Crappie in the morning and then Bass in the afternoon that's fine. The bottom line is that I love to fish and god has blessed me with a loving wife and kids that let me pursue my dreams in the outdoors.

A method of keeping fish alive after they have been caught. A string or small nylon rope is threaded through the mouth and gills of a fish and is then tied off to the boat or dock allowing the fish to remain overboard in the water but preventing them from swimming away. With the advent of livewells and other more modern methods of keeping fish, stringers have become nearly obsolete, but can still be quite handy when fishing from the bank of a pond. The term 'stringer' is also used by anglers to indicate the size of their catch for the day (10-pound stringer = 10 pounds of fish).
